I have been living in Seattle as an international student for nine months. As time goes by, I found my life style has been changing! This is my first time to live outside my home country for a long time. During these nine months, I gradually get used to living here and I would like to find out what changed the life. Also, I’m still exploring new things in Seattle and I want to share some stories about the time line life of some international students’ lives from Taiwan to Seattle.

I want to interview 3 current UW students to talk about their lives in Seattle. The first beauty is Betty Chao, from Taiwan, and has been living in Seattle for almost 10 years! The second storyteller is Alvin Wong, who will receive his bachelor degree this June, has stayed here since 2002. The last one is Mini Hu, cohort 6 student of MCDM, just came to the US last September and is also from Taiwan like me.

The interview questions as follow:

1) Could you simply introduce yourself? e.g., what are you doing now? How long have you been in Seattle?

2) Could you explain why you left your home country and why you chose to come to Seattle?

3) Could you describe your life in your home country? For example, the four essential requirements of the people:

Food, Clothing, Housing, Transportation

4) Could you describe your life in Seattle? (The format is same as the 3) and what kind of activities you regularly do here?

5) What does your life in Seattle differ from in Taiwan? E.g. you can see scooters and cabs anywhere but it’s hardly to see scooters here (but many motorcycles!) and what kind of activities do you regularly do here but seldom did in your home country?

6) What is the major difference of your life between in Seattle and in home country? Why and how changed your life? Do you enjoy your changing? (Is there any specific event to affect you?)

7) Whether the changing is positive/negative, how did you adjust (or overcome?) your life? E.g., I used to smoking in Taiwan, but I quitted smoking after coming to Seattle, and I feel better now!

8) What are you looking forward to the future in Seattle? Will you stay in Seattle or go back to your home country?
